WHAT QUALIFICATION DO I GET?

With this course you gain the following qualification:

YMCA Level 3 Award in Supporting Participation in Physical Activity: Older adults (610/1668/8)

Learn the knowledge and skills required to design and deliver safe and effective fitness training sessions to Independently active, Older People in an unsupervised manner.. A great qualification for all fitness instructors, PTs, Pilates instructors and Yoga who want to teach fitness sessions to older adults with the focus on the considerations for safe and effective exercise and how to plan and adapt exercise You will gain all the knowledge required to ensure a safe and effective workout.

YMCA Level 3 Award in Supporting Participation in Physical Activity: Older adults (610/1668/8)

This qualification comprises of 2 mandatory units and 1 optional unit.

The following unit is Optional:

  • Delivering exercise for older adults (A/650/4542)

Successful achievement of the 2 mandatory units provide you with underpinning knowledge, the optional unit will provide you with the acknowledgment of ‘Practitioner’ on demonstrating skills in delivering exercise for this population.

Are there any Prerequisites?

To access this qualification you must:

  • be 16+ years old
  • hold an appropriate sport/exercise or fitness qualification mapped to a CIMSPA occupational professional standard.
  • be able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups 

It is recommended that learners have at least 6 months experience planning and delivering exercise sessions before taking this qualification.

How do I book?

  • Stage 1 –You can either complete the contact form by clicking here or you can scroll down the page and click on the book course which will open up a new page. Once we have received your contact information we will email the enrolment documents to complete. Making the payment via the webpage will secure your place on the course, we will then email you the enrolment documents.
  • You can also telephone and we will start the process by emailing you the documents.
  • Payment can be made via the website or via bank transfer. For bank transfer details will be provided in the enrolment document. Payment plan details can be found at the check out. Click the make payment button on the chosen course page, complete all required details. This will then take you to a page with payment options on it. For the payment plan you will need to click on the ‘Pay Later’ PAYPAL button. With the payment plan the course cost is spread over 3 months.
  • Stage 2 –Once we have received all documents and payment you will receive guidance and resources for the course to start learning. This will take approximately a week to process. Your tutor details will be emailed to you with the guidance.
  • Stage 3 –You will be emailed the course schedule which will give you the venue address and requirements.

Awarding body

The Awarding body for the qualification is YMCA Awards. Once you have achieved all elements of the qualification and the quality assurance process has been completed your nationally recognised certificate will be processed.
